About Us

Host and Owner, Keith MasseySpiggie Hotel is a small privately owned country hotel with six en-suite rooms.  Owner Keith Massey purchased the Spiggie in October 2007 after a spell of 18 years away from Shetland.  Keith worked and travelled widely and had the dream to return home and provide an environment and experience for guests that will hopefully, surpass their expectations.

Comfortable bar area Whether you are a business traveller or on holiday, we at the Spiggie Hotel aim to make your stay as memorable as possible.  We have a cosy bar with welcoming leather sofas and peat fire.  We serve real ales including some from the local Valhalla Brewery and are currently listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.

Sunset over Spiggie After an enjoyable day exploring the archaeological sites, watching the otters play in the burn, picnicking on the beach why not relax in the bar or have something special to eat in our dining room - you never know, it might be that sea trout you caught in the loch earlier. Whatever your tastes, enjoy the food and watch the sun set with what one visitor described as “one of the best views in the world”.

Delicious FoodThe kitchen team are keen to provide simple yet stunningly delicious dishes, carefully prepared from fantastically fresh local ingredients. For example, our lobsters are caught in the bay you see from the front window, our lamb could be from the croft next door. The eggs come from our Spiggie chickens and the herbs are grown in our own garden whenever possible. From your first nibble to your last spoonful of dessert, our aim is to delight your taste-buds and ensure you enjoy the Spiggie Experience.
